There’s been a big bara-boom in blogs, personal homepages and boring articles the last 7 years. Though there’s got to be room for some awesomeness, purely insane and amazing weblogs, like mine is. So what was I going to write about again…? Ahh yes.
As my friend, a real life friend mind you, not one of them invisible types that just keeps harassing me when I’m going to bed. Ok that was a bad start, let me re-do it:
My friend absentSoul.net wrote about the Norwegian snailmail-system and came with some refreshing thoughts about the situation as it is now. Though I had posted comments on his page, it seems that he hasn’t moderated them (or maybe that’s just what he have done) so that’s one reason for writing this post. And I’ve got additional information to his post so that’s the second reason. Also, I’m currently at work so – strike! – the third reason.
The snailmail-system we’ve got in Norway is a bit out of date. The fact that I’ve worked there 9 times (according to my papers), where the last one was over a year long service. The work itself is a stressfull one that requires nerves of steel, hands of a lover (that can handle gentle letters) and an IQ equal to George W. Bush. Though the payment has been good, or rather higher than the average work for students here in Norway. When I worked there last time I did have some “interesting” chats with my boss and some sub-bosses (as I like to call ‘em). As we all got to know about how well Posten Norge did in the stock exchange market from the internal newspaper all employees got. Every month in 2006 was better than the last when it came to earnings and investments.
Now there’s a reason, that most people in Norway don’t know about, for the fact that Posten Norge is earning more money while they keep giving people the sack. That reason is a threat to them called Deutsche Post. Even though alot of mail centers in Norway is understaffed, including Oslo Mail Central (BPO) where I’ve worked, Posten just keeps earning and earning. Now, in 2005 (correct me if I’m wrong) Deutsche Post made its move towards Norway and it was decided by the Norwegian Government that one of the worlds largest mail company would be allowed to settle in Norway, giving Posten Norge competition they almost can’t cope with (I mean, Deutsche Post got DHL, Posten Norge don’t). This was two years ago and it ain’t going to be too long till the first DP-mail centers will establish in Norway, giving customers a good competetive price that’ll teach Posten Norge a painfull lesson. But why the understaffing and so good earnings for Posten Norge the last two years? Simple answer: they know they’re in deep shit competition-wise as they know they’ll have to spend a lot of money on new machinery and technicians that can operate the new machines. That’s why they’re trying to earn as much money and make enough deals with companies so they won’t drop out of the business. There you have it, my answer to my friend who was annoyed with the postal services that Posten Norge is giving.
Though I don’t like Posten Norge in general, I went there yesterday to get a packet I’ve been longing for some time now. The packet was from USA and contained the thrilling collection of Absolute Batman: Hush. I just started reading it after I’d done some cleaning, but I’m going to read more during this weekend…ooh I’ll have such a great time. I’m actually going to the post office today also since I’ve got a package. I bet it’s something for my birthday as it’s arrival is inevitable and can’t be avoided…even if I wanted to (which I don’t). Again I’m going to the post office in next week too as I’ll get my first shipment of Preacher-comics then. I’ve ordered ‘em all but Amazon didn’t have #2 in stock so I’ve to wait a week or two to complete my collection. Lovely!
That’s it for now, I’m going to get some lunch. Ohh and the internet is for porn.
