Last Sunady night was a blast. Early in the day we had a scavenger hunt with people from the different classes; we went all over NYC, but in a rush so I didn’t get to do much sightseeing.
After that we went right to a Holiday Inn hotel where the College had arranged a pool/bbq party. Got some free beer also, because I talked to the bartender about our college’s girl/boy-ratio (it’s like eight girls for every guy).
So I got drunk at the party, paid my roommate to jump into the pool with clothes on (don’t ask, we were both decently inebriated), and lost my little notebook. After that, the party began.
We, like twenty of us, went to someone’s flat in Little Italy, where we’d bask ourselves in the usual beer-related talks; There’s some people here who’ve seen the Wire, like me, and we spent some time discussing who’s cool and who’s not.
A girl also wanted to take a day-trip to Baltimore to see the…ermh sights? If more joins in I’ll be sure to run after them. I don’t know if there’s much to see though, since it’s just another American (slum) city.
After a couple of hours, and tenfolds of complaints from the other tenants in the building (threatening to call the cops on us, they did), we went out. I can’t remember clearly, but I think we went to a place called the Underground Village. It was a soul-kind of place, with live amateurs on stage.
I tried talking to a girl there, went like this:
koew: So, where’re you from?
girl: Brooklyn, NY.
koew: Ohh, that’s cool.
[5 second pause]
koew: I’m from Harlem.
[End of dialogue]
I was too drunk to try to row the ‘boat of shame’, and focused on the music instead. It was great, but I wanted live jazz instead. I’ll get some soon, I believe.
When UV closed, we took a taxi (damn, it’s so cheap with taxis here. To get to the flat from downtown it costs about $20. And that is usually split on two or more persons.) to another place, where only one guy and two girls got in (waiting queue and all).
The rest of us went to a hotell bar next to the place and took a couple of beers there. We met some Canadians who’d just flown (fly-flew-flown, right?) from Canada to see a hockey game here in NYC:

Then it was time to go home. We’ll be partying more ‘n harder once we get to know which places we should go to and where (flats) to start/end the nights. Our flat seems great to start in.
