Barack Obama’s Democratic Election War Machine (as I call it, duh!) have paid major TV networks in the US for a 30 minute – yes half an hour – long advertisement. What’s going to be shown is still a mystery, but NYMag have asked a lot of people on what they (Obama Campaign) would play:
Kevin Smith, (lunchbox, director)
Dude’s got a massive war chest: He needs to drop some Orson Wellesian “War of the Worlds” on us. Calmly tell America that the saucers have landed in the Arctic Circle (or somewhere that the media can’t immediately debunk), and cut to “satellite footage” (courtesy of ILM) of bloodthirsty moon-men chowing down on penguins, hungry for human flesh. At this point he could terrify this country into a state of violent panic and still get elected.
Kevin Smith for commercial director! I’d pay to see raving penguins tearing the chest open on a Greenpeace “soldier”. That’d rule.

Let me get this straight: half an hour long advertisement? I mean, 30 minutes? 1800 seconds???? I could… Well, I could do a LOT of stuff during that period of time. No thanks.

Unconfirmed sources tells me that they will fill the entire 30 minutes with the short-musical “Change”, where Barack Obama and Rick Astley are to perform a new and revised edition of Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”.
Then again, it’d still be a commercial, meaning most people would change the channel, go get a beer or take a visit to the little boys room.

Why bother? Obama will win the elections anyway.

Pray he do. Still, the reports about the election machines is disturbing. I heard it from a guy in the elevator at school (MCNY). He said that after you’d checked the box besides Obama, you still had to check on Democratic Party (or something) as well.

IMO, I do indeed hope Obama wins, but if McCain wins, I couldn’t care less.
